It's my sad duty to announce that this blog is going on hiatus for an indefinite period of time. I'm not deleting it, but I won't be updating it unless the spirit compels me to, for the time being at least.

Blogs don't really get traffic unless they're updated at least once a week. I haven't been able to do that for quite some time. And now I need to focus on something greater--writing a book.

The book will be about ideas concerning spirituality, religion, and reason--ideas that I've already explored at some length on this blog. I seek a different way of writing about this. The declarative style ("such and such is true" or "you are this, or that") is fine for those already accepting a tradition. What I want to do is explore what we mean when we use spiritual and religious language, rather than merely accept them or dismiss them as somehow prima facie true or false.

My political commentary has covered just about everything that I'm concerned with. Frankly, it's hard to come up with much that is new when political events mostly consist of "same old, same old." For anyone still interested in that aspect of my writing, I point to my Twitter page.

In the meantime, I wish to thank the few loyal readers who have kept up with the blog over the years and offered their comments, arguments, and encouragements. A writer always needs to know that someone is reading. You keep me going. I appreciate it.

Good luck on your book. I didn't always comment here, but I almost always read.

Dash, I'll miss the blog. I was hoping you'd say more about spiritualism on the blog in the future, but I guess we've gotta wait for the book. ;-)

the blog is yours. update it whenever the heck you want. you write really good, so you'll feel like you'd like to say something again. it's best to write when you have something to say.

Sorry I'm late; fucking off takes time.;-) I just picked you up by retweeting you about SC Repugs drawing straws. Quickly scanned a couple posts since I'm attracted to the word spiritual like a moth to a flame.

From where I sit, I would say you're searching for The Urantia Book. You can find decent introductory material here: but as a writer, I'll simply recommend you just get a book and read the whole thing. Feel free to follow me back (@T_P_K) if you have any burning questions. Best of luck on your spiritual sojourn on Urantia.

Good luck on the book, Chris. Knowing it's you, I know it will be well-thought out and illuminating.

Sorry to hear you're on hiatus but hope you'll be back. In the meantime I've fallen behind on my blog reading so will have some of your more recent posts to catch up with in the meantime while I'm waiting to be able to buy your book! I always find your posts to be very thought-provoking, extremely well-written and well thought-out. I'm sure your book will be great, best of luck on it.

I just have a quick question for you but couldn't find an email so had to resort to this. I am a progressive blogger and the owner of the mahablog. Please email me back at when you get a chance. Thanks.

Good luck with the book, Dash. I'm interested in reading what you come up with. While we don't always agree on matters, your arguments are always sound and difficult to find fault with.

Sorry that I haven't been around much lately. I pretty much put my blog (and reading others) on hiatus too. My free time has been taken up with writing and promoting my novel. And now I've gone and let myself be recruited into a small writing group and a indy published book review blog.

Again, good luck with the book!
